Let's Meet

Hi, I’m Grace, a warm, friendly and experienced psychotherapist

I help children, teenagers, adults and parents navigate life’s ups and downs.  I believe that psychotherapy can be a transformative experience and key to this is a strong therapeutic relationship. My goal is to create a warm and welcoming space where people of all ages and backgrounds can feel safe and supported to express and explore whatever is on their mind.

As an integrative psychotherapist, my approach can be tailored to suit each individual’s unique needs, whether it’s through conversation, creative activities, or coping strategies.

Working in both educational settings and in private practice, I aim to accompany and support people of all ages and walks of life, as they develop the awareness, skills and resilience to overcome whatever may be holding them back.

What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy can offer a safe space where anyone can explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. It’s not about finding a ‘quick fix,’ but rather about understanding challenges, developing healthier ways to cope, and gaining more confidence to manage life's ups and downs. Whether you're a child, teen, or adult, therapy can help you feel more in control, improve your emotional well-being, and help you bring about positive changes in your life.

Things to Consider When Choosing a Therapist

Choosing the right therapist is an important decision.  Although, of course, it takes time to build a trusting relationship, if you feel that someone isn’t the right fit don’t be afraid to shop around to find the person for you.

Here are some things to think about when making your choice:

Experience with your age group

Different stages of life bring different challenges. It’s important to find a therapist who has experience with the age group you're seeking help for.

Approach to therapy

Therapy styles can vary. Some therapists are more talk-focused, while others use art, play, or movement to connect. Find an approach that resonates with you or the things your child enjoys.

Comfort level

A good therapeutic relationship is built on trust and comfort. It’s important to find a therapist who makes you feel heard and safe.

Safety

Ask your therapist about their training, what membership body they belong to and whether they hold professional insurance.  Therapy is an unregulated profession and it important to know that you will be working with someone who is a safe practitioner.

Working with Children

When working with children, I focus on creating a space where they feel safe to express themselves. Therapy with young people often involves a lot of play, creativity, and movement. Through activities like drawing, storytelling, or games, children can express feelings and thoughts they might not yet have words for. When working with young clients, I recommend a number of initial sessions with parents to understand the family system and schedule regular reviews to ensure everyone is on the same page and that we’re supporting the child in a consistent way both in the therapy and at home.

Working with Adolescents

Adolescence is a time of change, and many teens face a whirlwind of emotions, social pressures, and new challenges. In our sessions, I provide a non-judgmental space for teens to explore their feelings, talk about school, friendships, family dynamics, or personal struggles. I also help teens build coping strategies for stress, anxiety, and self-esteem. As with younger clients, some teenagers may also struggle to find words for their experiences, and I am able to offer a wide range of creative tools to help them express themselves.  My approach is focused on creating a strong, trusting relationship to help teens feel heard and supported.

Working with Adults

It often comes as a surprise when we realise that adult life can be just as, if not more, confusing and challenging than our teenage years.  I work with adults who are navigating all sorts of emotional difficulties in their relationships, families, careers and personal growth.  Whatever you're dealing with I’m here to accompany and support you. Together, we will work on understanding what elements from your life – past and present - contribute to the challenges you are facing and what do you need to live a life you love.

Working with Parents

As a parent, it can be tough to know how to best support your child through difficult emotions or challenging times. I offer Reflective Parenting sessions to parents to help them to support their children’s emotional growth and improve family dynamics. Through our work together, you’ll gain more awareness of what your child’s behaviour might be trying to communicate, better insight into your own thoughts and feelings about being a parent, and tools and strategies to help your child feel more secure and supported.

I use a combination of therapeutic approaches to best support the needs of each individual. Some of the approaches I use include:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Helps identify negative thought patterns and replace them with healthier, more positive ways of thinking and acting.

  • Play Therapy: Especially useful for younger children, play therapy allows them to express feelings through play, which is often a more natural way for kids to communicate.

  • Person-Centred Therapy: Focuses on providing a non-judgmental and empathetic space for the individual to explore their emotions.

  • Solution-Focused Therapy: Helps individuals focus on finding solutions and practical steps for overcoming current challenges.

  • Mindfulness-Based Therapy: Teaches techniques to stay grounded and manage anxiety by focusing on the present moment.

By using these integrative approaches, I aim to offer the right type of support for each person, depending on their unique challenges and preferences.
